The Course

Corbeagh House is a spectacular venue overlooking Corbeagh Lake. The cross country course extends over 50 acres of dry and well drained land. There are currently over 30 obstacles on the course, each offering a different challenge. The majority of fences offers a variety of heights and complexities.

It is a spectator friendly course and offers a number of excellent vantage points with views of the cross country obstacles and fences. The course incorporates a purpose built water feature, banks, steps, spreads and arrowheads - all designed to test both horse and rider.

The course was initially designed by Tony McManamon in 2000 and since then has been extended with new and more challenging fences added each year. Through Longford Community Resources, Corbeagh House received funding from Leader for the initial course.

Fences are designed in such a way as to incorporate as many of the natural features of the landscape. Each fence offers various levels from novice to open levels. Work is currently underway to further develop the course in to an all weather track.

With the spectator in mind we have designed a number of complexes that challenge both horse and rider. These complexes feature a number of fences that force the rider to determine their line well in advance.

The water complex is one of the favourite training grounds on the course. It provides riders with the opportunity to school young and novice horses, allowing them to build their confidence. If offers an number of training levels, allowing the horse to walk in before attempting to jump in.
